Project Accountant

Location: Escondido, CA (100% Onsite)
Compensation: $30-$42 per hour

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Accountant to join our team in Escondido. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with a strong background in construction accounting who enjoys collaborating with project managers and supporting the financial success of construction projects from start to finish.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and personable, with the ability to build strong relationships across teams while managing project accounting responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day project accounting functions for multiple construction projects.
  • Process and track project-related financial transactions and costs.
  • Review, maintain, and obtain lien releases and other construction-related documentation.
  • Support project managers with budgeting, cost tracking, financial reporting, and project analysis.
  • Reconcile accounts and assist with month-end close activities.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, contracts, and accounting standards.
  • Communicate regularly with project managers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of accounting experience.
  • Construction accounting experience, including management of lien releases.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work closely with project managers and cross-functional teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with TimberScan.
  • Experience with Sage 300.
